Rend my Heart

Rend my heart is a powerful phrase, symbolising a deep cry for personal transformation and repentance. To "rend" means to tear or break apart. When we ask God to "rend our hearts," we invite Him to break open the hardened or indifferent parts of us, exposing our deepest emotions, struggles, and desires. It is a prayer for vulnerability and openness, asking for God's grace to soften our hearts, heal our wounds, and purify our intentions. This heartfelt plea seeks to remove any barriers that prevent us from fully experiencing love, compassion, and growth, allowing us to draw nearer to the divine and become more aligned with God's will for our lives.

Over the five weeks, we will unpack different aspects of the call to repentance, examining how God desires our hearts—undivided, sincere, and transformed. Each week will build on the theme of returning to God, focusing on the need for brokenness, restoration, and growth.

May the cry of Rend My Heart continue to echo through our lives as we open ourselves fully to God’s transformative work. May this season be a time of deep renewal, where we truly return to God wholeheartedly, allowing Him to make all things new

“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity. ~ Joel 2:12-13
