The Rise of Technology — An Overview + Pastoral Word

Panel Discussion—Today’s message was a panel discussion exploring the rise of Artificial Intelligence through a theological and pastoral lens. Sarah, Christy, Matt, and Dave, had a conversation anchored across three movements: Considerations, Dehumanisation & Rehumanisation, and Hope. The conversation was anchored around the series' central conviction that we are made in the image of God, and that image is the most important thing about us.

As we close this series, we are called to recover and reclaim our full humanity in an age that is rapidly reshaping what it means to be human.

  • Teshuva

    Teshuva

Creative Service—To be fully human is to live connected to God, each other and ourselves. But in a culture of fear, performace and comparison, how do we find our way back? Teshuva isn’t a theory; it’s a physical turning around. A return. What is He calling you to return to today?

  • Limits

    Limits

Christy McHugh—Our to-do lists, whether just in our heads, written on paper or typed into a device point to the ever increasing demands and expectations of what it looks like to be human. And yet, the reality that most of us hardly ever complete the to-do lists, let alone come away feeling a deep sense of satisfaction that we smashed being a human today is also very common. As we consider together, what it means to be human - we can not ignore the fact that we have limitations - our unfinished to-do lists are a prime example of this. How we engage with these limitations though, has lasting effects on us as individuals and as humanity as a whole.

If we see our God given limitations as boundaries to push against, or limits to be rejected - we lean into hurry, we over extend ourselves, we attempt to control and we grasp for certainty. Each one of these dehumanises and erodes our ability to live and flourish.

However, if we see our God given limitations as something to be embraced - we instead honour and value rest, embracing the seasons of life, recognising our vulnerability and cultivating both lament and gratitude.

We are only human, this is how we have been created. As we explore our God designed, pre-fall human limits, my hope is that we learn not only to simply accept our limits, but celebrate them for the gift that they are.

  • His Image—Creator + Community

    His Image—Creator + Community

Dave McHugh—From the very beginning, we see a God who creates space for life… and a God who exists in a perfect community of love. And as those who are made in His image, then this is our calling too: to be a people who make space for life and a people who make room for one another.

  • The Trinity

    The Trinity

Sarah Hudson–True humanity is not found in progress, control or autonomy but in participation in the rich, vibrant and relational life of the Triune God.

The Trinity is not marginal - it is the central reality of not just Christian faith but the ultimate reference point to all reality. The Trinity is a beautiful mystery and truth - it is not explicitly mentioned as the Trinity, but is found everywhere. From Genesis to the gospels into the epistles, we see the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit in perfect communion as the three beings of God.

  • Imago Dei

    Imago Dei

Matt Romano — What does it actually mean to be human? In a world that measures your worth by your output, defines you by your productivity, and quietly shapes you into something more efficient than alive, it might be the most urgent question of our time.

In this first message, we go back to Genesis 1 and the ancient truth that every human being, not just the powerful, not just the successful, is made in the image of God. We explore what that meant in the ancient world, what it demands of us in the modern one, and what it looks like to actually live it out in the texture of an ordinary week.

For anyone tired of being measured by what they produce. For anyone who feels the creeping sense that life is full but something essential is missing. For anyone who suspects that they were made for something deeper than the pace at which they are living at.

Your worth was settled before your first achievement. Your identity was given before your first success. Your worth is found in the Imago Dei
